Sidus Space wins Exo-Space contract to deploy edge tech in space

ISS Space

Satellite service provider Sidus Space has been awarded a contract to deploy edge technology for Exo-Space, a satellite hardware developer.

Through the agreement, Sidus Space will integrate Exo-Space’s AI software technology on Earth Observation satellites. Sidus Space plans to integrate Exo-Space’s payload into LizzieSat, its hybrid 3D-printed satellite, in 2023.

The collaboration will allow for ultra-low latency space analytics that provide insights into Earth...

Fortifyedge taps the edge to monitor astronauts’ health in space

NASA Astronaut

Tasmanian start-up Fortifyedge has developed a software that will enable stress, fatigue and other physiological responses in astronauts to be monitored as they travel in space.

The software was created with the support of the Tasmanian government’s Space Technology Seed Fund.

Fortifyedge received funding from the first round of the Seed Fund, alongside the Launceston-based startup Firmus, which is using university telescopes to capture and commercialise data to help...

Averting global disaster using edge computing

Planet Earth from Space.

Governments and corporations use Earth Observation (EO) data gathered from space to detect abnormal activity – from illegal shipping and distress signals on vessels to understanding the risk of weather events like hurricanes, tsunamis and climate change.

Satellites have been providing EO data for a long time but until recently, it was mainly governments and institutions such as NASA and the European Space Agency (ESA) who developed and supported dedicated EO ...
