Akamai invests in Macrometa for joint edge cloud platform

Akamai, a content delivery network (CDN) provider, has invested in edge services provider Macrometa as the two partner to integrate their services.

By combining Akamai’s cloud infrastructure with Macrometa’s global data network, the two companies give developers the option to build enterprise applications that can utilise edge services.

Macrometa, an edge computing cloud and global data network (GDN) for developers, has closed a $20 million (£14.38m) Series A funding round.

This raise comes less than eight months after the $7m (£5.03m) seed round, bringing Macrometa's total funding to date to $29m (£20.85m) since the founding of the company in 2017.
