As part of the agreement, Lenovo will integrate its edge hardware devices with Sunlight.io’s HyperConverged edge-to-core stack and NexCenter infrastructure management platform.
Lenovo says the integration of Sunlight solutions to its offering will help customers looking for edge infrastructure that can support data-intensive workloads.
Sunlight’s edge solutions will run compatibly with Lenovo’s ThinkEdge and ThinkSystem products.
Blake Kerrigan, the senior director of Lenovo’s ThinkEdge Business Group, said: “We’re delighted that Sunlight, a Lenovo AI Innovator Partner, has agreed to Lenovo becoming a reseller as we accelerate the development of edge computing solutions – including the first HyperConverged stack supporting the Nvidia Jetson-based Lenovo ThinkEdge SE70 to make Edge AI deployable at scale.”
The agreement will be a major boost for Sunlight.io in terms of sales and publicity, given Lenovo’s position as the world’s fourth largest server vendor by revenue.
Sunlight won the ‘2022 Gartner Cool Vendor in Edge Computing’ award for its contributions to solving issues facing the edge computing industry last year. The company’s HyperConverged Edge solution offers a bare-metal virtualisation platform that incorporates storage, processing, and networking functions into one system.
Meanwhile, Lenovo is focused on edge devices built for the IoT industry with its ThinkEdge and ThinkSystem products.
Andy Brewerton, COO of Sunlight, said: “The reseller agreement… gives enterprises and partners the choice of off-the-shelf and t-shirt-sized edge computing solutions to meet their needs.”
“For Sunlight, the agreement gives us a sophisticated route to market for our solution, including access to a global Lenovo sales team and channel network.”
