NTT Data, a subsidiary of IT provider NTT Limited, has partnered with Aurora Labs, an automotive AI firm, to deliver over-the-air 5G software updates via artificial intelligence.
The joint solution has been built to deliver high efficiency and end-to-end security for the 5G transport layer, supporting automotive industry initiatives in production and logistics.
Stefan Hansen, CEO of NTT Data Dach, said: “”The key to meeting society’s future mobility needs is to provide the automotive industry with highly efficient, reliable, and secure solutions. Through our partnership with Aurora Labs, we combine technological innovation with our industry expertise to meet users’ needs for better quality of service in a safe and sustainable way.”
Aurora Labs AI-based vehicle software solution is designed to let manufacturers gather and process sensor data that helps them understand software changes and simplify software development.
It says the solution can reduce hardware and data costs for software updates by up to 98%.
Kai Grunwitz, CEO of NTT Limited, Germany, said: “Distributing updates to thousands of vehicles quickly, securely, and reliably via wireless connections is far from trivial, especially as data volumes continue to grow. The AI capabilities of Aurora Labs, the industry experience, and the 5G expertise of NTT DATA have resulted in a solution that scales for future growth.”
Zohar Fox, CEO of Aurora Labs, said: “Current OTA update solutions cannot support the data required to manage the software lifecycle of Infotainment (IVI) and ADAS systems. OTA is crucial after the first launch of new vehicles to stabilize the software during the first 12 months.”
In 2022, NTT Limited launched its Edge-as-a-Service solution powered by VMware compute power, allowing businesses to deploy and manage edge applications.
