Edge computing and hyperconvergence specialist Scale Computing has partnered with Mako Networks, a cloud network provider, to expand its edge solution provision to enterprises.

With Scale Computing’s easy-to-deploy software and Mako Networks secure networking, the two firms are offering a complete remote management system for a variety of edge applications.

The end goal is to allow organisations to run critical applications on a local network while taking advantage of the power and security expected of the cloud.

Craig Theriac, VP of product management at Scale Computing, said: “With most edge locations lacking on-site technical staff, Mako Networks and Scale Computing have developed systems for automating deployment and updates to both networking and applications, as well as a supporting software stack to process data at the edge of the network, closest to where that data is actually created and utilised.”

“Autonomous operation, monitoring, and self-healing properties make on-site intervention a thing of the past,” he added.

Through combining one another’s solutions, both companies say they can offer PCI-certified security, flexible scalability, cost-saving efficiency, and standardised management across locations.

The partnership takes advantage of Mako Networks’ SD-WAN technology to improve connectivity at the network edge.

The combined solution is also PCI DSS certified and comes with a complete remote management system.

Jason Kubasak, CEO of Mako Networks, said: “We’re excited to partner with Scale Computing. Their low-touch, remotely managed edge computing solution is perfectly aligned with Mako’s similar edge networking and security platform. The combination is truly ground-breaking.”

Scale Computing recently partnered with Intel Corporation for a similar edge management platform. The Intel NUC Enterprise Edge Compute (EEC) Edition is designed to allow enterprise customers to monitor edge infrastructure in real-time and deal with issues as they occur.
