Sunlight.io and edge infrastructure firm Avassa have collaborated on a complete software stack designed for secure and efficient management of edge environments.
Built to reduce the growing work pressures facing IT teams that have to manage edge-native software applications, the solution targets a wide range of industries from retail stores and factories to hospitals.
Carl Moberg, CTO, and co-founder of Avassa, said: “Combining our application-centric edge orchestration platform with Sunlight’s state-of-the-art hyperconverged edge solutions, enterprises get a solid and secure edge orchestration solution built to delight application teams — and strengthen their innovation power through edge initiatives.”
Avassa has experience in providing management tools for containerised applications. The company’s orchestration platform is designed for use cases with a large number of deployments where the user needs to be able to control application placement with precision.
Sunlight.io, which recently launched its Project Rosie beta, supports high-end hardware with minimal overhead. Its NexVisor Hypervisor provides improved performance for operating on custom hardware in the cloud.
Andy Brewerton, chief strategy officer of Sunlight.io, said: “In an ideal world, enterprises would both be able to consume their edge computing infrastructure ‘as a service’ while also easily deploying and managing their applications from a central, remote location. Partnering with Avassa makes this edge application orchestration possible at scale.”
Outside of the partnership, Avassa and Sunlight.io make up two of the four vendors that were named 2022 Gartner Cool Vendors in Edge Computing.
