Edge solutions firm Scale Computing has entered into a strategic partnership with Intel to offer a fully integrated platform designed for deploying and managing applications at the edge.
The Indiana, USA-based company is known for its hyperconverged infrastructure solutions that support data centre, cloud, and edge environments.
With growing demand for ultra-low latency applications, the Intel NUC Enterprise Edge Compute (EEC) Edition will fit comfortably into use cases across retail, industrial, and IoT environments.
“The demand for near-real-time response in critical applications is driving a need to put computing power where it can be best used, at the edge of a network,” said Jeff Ready, CEO and co-founder of Scale Computing.
“By combining the power of Intel NUC EEC platform with the simplicity and reliability of Scale Computing, we provide organisations with on-premises edge computing with high availability and disaster recovery to remote locations in an affordable way.
All edge models can be deployed quickly, managed locally or remotely, and can self-heal almost instantly. This joint solution meets the definition of edge-ready,” he added.
In terms of technical details, the Intel NUC EEC will use Intel’s latest generation NUC 11 Pro platform with a choice between its 11th-gen Core i5-1145G7 or Core i7-1185G7 processors. Either choice includes four cores and eight threads at frequencies up to 4.8GHz.
Scale Computing will be handling the software side of things with its HC3 platform that gives customers a centralised management and software framework for scaled deployment and management of edge applications.
HC3 also comes with rolling upgrades, ease of deployment and VM creation, and automated intelligence for maximum uptime.
The joint offering will be available under a pilot program in Q3 2022 through Intel authorised distributors.
