NEXCOM has partnered with edge solutions provider Telco Systems to release a commercial-ready solution for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) looking to run virtual workloads at the network edge.

The joint solution is based on network appliance supplier NEXCOM’s DTA 1164W, a 5G-ready desktop uCPE, combined with Telco Systems’ Edgility smart edge computing software for virtual edge services management installed.

Built with full support for 5G and IoT connectivity, the offering comes ready to support a range of cloud native deployments with an adaptable configuration suited for dynamic IT environments.

NEXCOM’s uCPE features an I/O interface with eight ethernet ports providing physical network connectivity to multiple devices along with an additional wireless route. It supports Wi-Fi 5/6, 4G LTE, and 5G connectivity through the Thales Cinterion MV31-W IoT modem card, which can be operated and managed with Edgility.

“Based on our successful long-term partnership with Telco Systems, we are onboarding their edge compute software onto our 5G uCPE,” said Allan Chiu, VP of network and communication solutions at NEXCOM. “This market-ready solution with pre-installed software suits those of our customers who are seeking an easy-to-deploy product for automating edge device management for SD-WAN networks.”

Edgility gives enterprises a simple toolset to deploy, manage, and operate multiple virtual services on up to thousands of edge devices across multiple sites. Zero-touch provisioning enables the deployment of new services in minutes without the need for on-site technical support.

The platform is comprised of both the Edgility OS, with its high performance and small footprint, and Edgility Central, a cloud-based management and orchestration system.

Ariel Efratic, CEO of Telco Systems, said: “As small and medium-sized businesses move business services to the edge as part of their digital transformation initiatives, their IT teams must adapt on the fly to enable fast deployment of new virtual workloads. Our joint offering with NEXCOM offers businesses an agile, cost-efficient solution to simplify the deployment and management of edge devices while reducing operational costs.”
