SEMPRE, a telecom solutions start-up, has raised a $20 million (£15.1m) seed round for its military-grade 5G and edge computing infrastructure.
The funding was led by US family office Goff Capital and joined by Hayman Capital Management.
The company, whose name stands for Secure EMP Resistant Edge, provides the first military-grade resistant communications and edge computing infrastructure for telecom operators, first responders, and government customers.
Rhydon Lee, a partner at Goff Capital, said: “We invested in SEMPRE because the team, composed of technical experts in commercial networking and edge computing and seasoned veterans in national security, is committed to ensuring access to secure, reliable, high-performance compute and connectivity.”
Retired US Air Force Brigadier General Robert Spalding created SEMPRE to address security issues in US infrastructure and provide secure compute and connectivity in even the most rural of communities.
The former Brigadier General said: “In the last few years, we’ve seen an escalation of attacks, which is why I founded SEMPRE to address these concerns by providing secure, reliable 5G connectivity and compute that can integrate seamlessly with existing architecture or work as a standalone network.”
Fully designed and manufactured in the US, SEMPRE is currently working with the Department of Defence to build a standalone 5G networking and computing platform with end-to-end security.
