Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) firm ClearBlade has partnered with intelligent systems company Advantech for an edge AI-powered smart monitoring solution.

The companies are using AI at the edge for things such as: identifying objects for building occupancies, virtual turnstiles for automated ticketing, and vehicle recognition for parking flow optimisation.

Eric Simone, CEO of ClearBlade, says:

“This bundled offering represents yet another step in ClearBlade’s mission to end the IoT science experiments and shift to out-of-the-box solutions that make everything easier for the customer.

Advantech provides ClearBlade with best-of-breed compute hardware and the scale to get it to customers right away.”

The Edge Native Smart Monitoring IVA Bundle includes an industrial edge gateway, two high-res cameras, a smart monitoring application, edge and cloud software, and intelligent video analytics algorithms.

In a time when maintaining social distancing is paramount for the safety of customers and employees – and therefore continued running of a business – the solution helps with understanding the occupancy of spaces in real-time.

For things such as transport and goods transit, the solution can also enable dynamic updates by identifying the movement of people and vehicles. This ultimately can help to reduce congestion and shorten wait times.

David Liu, IoT Director at Advantech, comments:

“The ClearBlade software represents a fantastic approach to making complex edge artificial intelligence, IVA, cloud applications easy-to-use, rapid to customise, and scale within weeks.

It is this strategy that leads to rapid customer success.”

No coding is required for the out-of-the-box solution but it allows for customisation dependent on a business’ specific needs.

ClearBlade is emerging as an exciting player in the edge computing space. Last week, the company announced it had joined IBM’s edge ecosystem and integrated Edge Application Manager to deliver IoT asset monitoring.

“We look forward to collaborating with ClearBlade as part of the IBM Edge Ecosystem,” said Evaristus Mainsah, General Manager of Cloud, Cloud Pak, and Edge Ecosystem at IBM about that integration.

“Together, we can help customers in asset-intensive industries further accelerate their digital transformation by enabling them to act on insights closer to where the data is being created, at the edge.”
